xperia Z2

Sony Xperia Z2

Traditionally Sony launches a new Xperia flagship and tablet at CES every year, so next week at CES 2014 we may witness the debut of the Sony Xperia Z2. For some reason, leaks concerning this model has been scarce, but at least we stumble upon a fresh render of the device today.

As shown by the design here, the handset seems to pack an edge to edge display and almost no edge at all on its case. The UI seems like the classic Sony layer of icons, widgets, themes, wallpapers and apps on top of Android 4.4 KitKat. Speculations say that the Xperia Z2 specs will include a quad ore Snapdragon 800 or Snapdragon 805 processor, 2 or 3 GB of RAM and a 5 inch IGZO screen.

We’ll also get the usual Sony tech like X Reality, Triluminous, Sony exclusive apps, water resistance, maybe the G Lens as well. The same rumors say that the newcomer will borrow the 20.7 megapixel sensor from the Xperia Z1, with updated features like Motion Shot, TimeShift Burst and AR Effect, among others.

Sony has developed a way for this newcomer to charge its battery in a mere hour, which sound pretty cool.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6c With iOS 8 Get Rendered by iPhoneSoft

It’s Italy that’s given us some excellent iPhone designs, but now we’ve got some fresh ones from France. The folks of iPhoneSoft.fr have imagined the way the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6c will look like, with iOS 8 included and some specs too.

They created these at the end of the year 2013, but they’re still fresh. First of all, iOS 8 marks a bit of a return to the older iOS look apparently and the iPhone 6 adopts an “Air” design, so the name iPhone Air really goes here. It’s ultrathin, it has a 4.5 inch anti reflective screen with very small bezels and a 20 megapixel camera with dual LED flash.
TouchID is now bigger and apparently an SD card slot made its way onto the specs list, incredible as it may seem. The iPhone 6 concept here measures 6 mm in thickness and features Siri on the lockscreen, which is actually a good idea. Then we’ve got the iPhone 6c, only featured in the blue render below and also looking hot.
The handset runs iOS 8 and features a hybrid design between the iPad air and iPhone 5c somehow. This means we get a plasticky case, but also pill shaped buttons, rounded edges and a very slim design. The iPhone 6c also has a 4.5 inch with small bezels, plus a 13 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, classic TouchID and a 6 mm thick case.

Samsung Smartphone Concept Has Some Xperia and HTC One In It

The device looks like a combo between the design of a new generation of Sony Xperia phone and its back is very similar to the one of the HTC One X and One S. There’s also a very interesting browser in one of the pics and if I’m not mistaking I saw the real thing on teh ASUS Eee Slider tablet, as the standard web browser with those touch options. This is a very thin phone, with curved upper and lower edges, a plasticky look and metallic edges. I imagine it packs a quad core processor, 12 megapixel camera and 1080p display.

Also the diagonal should be around 4.7 inches or so, keeping with the modern smartphone standards. The device is certainly interesting and it would make a good new Nexus Phone, especially with the long body and bright display, plus original form factor (curved edges and very, very thin case). I wish this was the real Samsung Galaxy S III, to be honest. What do you think this handset is lacking and what do you want on it?
